Stalin’s Rope Roads
Dubbed the 'rope road', the cable car network in the Georgian town of Chiatura was built as a way to efficiently transport workers to the mines during the height of production in the 1950s. The fall of the USSR put an abrupt end in most industry but the cable cars are still in use.
