A big thank you Scopio Editions for featuring a series of nightscapes from my project in Australia. You may wonder how these landscape works became part of a photographic research on the ocean. And indeed, interestingly enough my first encounter with the Australian desert was through my research on maritime archives in and around the Dampier peninsula and the relevant pearling histories that came with it; one of them being the discovery of the first pearlshell evidence in the country found 22,000 years ago in a West Kimberley rockshelter close to the Great Sandy Desert, miles away from the ocean, still echoing its presence 200 km away from the coast! Always interesting to see how histories are forever interconnected in multiple ways. View the full gallery here
